This collection consists of one volume of minutes concerning the construction and dedication of the Savannah Cotton Exchange building. The remainder of the collection is composed of items relating to the maintenance of the building, invitations to the formal opening, and a notice of a meeting of the Building Committee with a committee list. The volume includes a photograph, taken in March, 1886, of the slip and building site, a copy of a drawing of the front elevation, and a blueprint of the building site.

William H. Teasdale (ca. 1873-1949), a native of Durham, England, arrived in Savannah, Georgia, at the age of 17. He married may Silva in 1900. He was the Superintendent of the Cotton Exchange for 35 years, until his death in 1949. The Cotton Exchange building was opened in Savannah, Georgia in 1887. The site, at the foot of Drayton Street, was obtained by an act of the Georgia General Assembly in 1885.
