William H. Teasdale (ca. 1873-1949), a native of Durham, England, arrived in Savannah, Georgia, at the age of 17. He married may Silva in 1900. He was the Superintendent of the Cotton Exchange for 35 years, until his death in 1949. The Cotton Exchange building was opened in Savannah, Georgia in 1887. The site, at the foot of Drayton Street, was obtained by an act of the Georgia General Assembly in 1885.
